protected areas and national parks in Libya

Abstract The study outlined the justifications importance of protected areas to conserve the biodiversity. The major objectives of the study were to give a general look to the current status of wildlife in Libya and also to look in protected areas system. In addition, examining the national wildlife legislations and to compare them with the new concepts of biodiversity conversation. The study deals with the current situations of the wildlife resources in Libya, a description of the major ecological zones and species found in each protected area is listed. The conclusion of this part indicates unpleasant situation, particularly of medium and large size species and many species had extinct or in their way to extinction. However, the situations vary from zone to zone. The research also shows that most protected areas had carried studies on Biological diversity. The study examined the protected areas systems, in which lists of protected areas for each region is given, including to the information of area, date and objective of the establishment of each protected area. The research concluded that there is no uniformity between different protected areas in the region that need harmonizing and standardization but a promising movement towards the inclusion of new sites in the region to increase the areas of the protected areas to the recommended international standards. The study illustrated the legislations that control wildlife and protected areas institution. A list of the major laws and regulations is given in Libya. In addition, to a brief summary of the organizations, institutions that administer wildlife in the conservation aspects. arabic 7 English 37

Wilhelm's Strategies and Teaching of English at the Secondary Level in Libya: A Prescriptive Approach Regarding Reading Skills

Libya is a 3rd world country which faces a lot of challenges in giving required resources and ideal environment for the effective learning and teaching, especially that of English language,although, the Libyan Government has taken lot of efforts for effective teaching, reading and learning. The most important skill for learning a language is by reading, which has focused the attention for teachers, researchers, pedagogues, teacher training and foreign language professionals in the recent times. Reading is very important in learning and mastering any foreign language. Skills are the stepping stone for effective English competence among the students. In Libya, the learner faces many difficulties to learn and master the foreign language like English, especially reading comprehension skill. Libyan students have negative attitudes in learning English language since they face many difficulties in comprehension skills. In such cases, the teaching method and material adopted by the teacher is very important for the students. The teachers using various motivational methods and different learning strategies play a crucial role in coaching reading skills among the students. This paper aims to study and to identify: 1. The problems that teachers face while teaching reading skills to the students at the secondary school level in Libya, with respect to their teaching reading skills 2. The recent developments in teaching reading skills at the secondary school level. 3. To understand how the knowledge and effective utilization of reading strategies be demonstrated. 4. Biodiversity and prevalence of chewing lice on local poultry‏

Abstract Biodiversity and prevalence of chewing lice on local poultry (Gallus Gallus Domesticus, family Phasianidae) have been successfully determined for five selected sites around Qaser Bin Ghashir region, Libya between November 2017 and April 2018. The total investigated chicken samples are 135, and the infected samples were found to be 94. Ticks, fleas, and mites were detected in a small quantity in addition to three different species of biting lice. The obtained results show that Asuani has the lowest amount of ectoparasites, while Suq AL-kamees samples were infected completely by 100 % prevalence of chewing lice. The calculated total average prevalence percentage (TAP, %) of all sites are ≤70%. Three species of lice were detected and identified on the local poultry, Menopon gallinae, Menacanthus stramineus and Lipeurus caponis. The most abundant species in the study area is Menopon gallinae with prevalence percentage about ≈ 69.84%. A comparison between chewing lice around Qaser Bin Ghashir region in Libya and other countries has been carried out and it was found that (TAP, %) for Algeria > (TAP, %) for Libya > (TAP, %) for USA.
