About faculty of Education Tripoli

The Faculty of Education - Tripoli is one of the oldest faculties of the University of Tripoli. It was replaced by the Higher Institutes for Teacher Education in 1998-1999. However, in 2004/2005, Faculties of Teacher Preparation were established in various Libyan universities. Further, in 2008-2009, it was renamed to be the College of Education - Tripoli, to return to what it was, a long-standing educational monument under the name of Faculty of Education - Tripoli.

It dates back to the mid-sixties of the last century, that is, nearly a century, as it was established under the name of the Higher Teachers College in conjunction with the UNESCO in 1965 and the UNESCO ensured the provision of a number of experts to the college. In 1967, the Faculty joined the Libyan University at that time. In 1970, it was decided to change its name to become the College of Education. The College of Education moved to several places in the city of Tripoli throughout its long history.

Raising Awareness: Introducing Ecocomposition into EFL Writing Classroom

Ecocomposition is a fairly new applied approach in the composition classroom. Its application helped first-year composition teachers raise environmental awareness and discuss the impact of place on writers. In spite of its significance, ecocomposition application in the EFL classroom is nearly nonexistent. The purpose of this paper is to explore how ecocomposition is implemented in the composition classroom to propose introducing it to the EFL writing classroom. This is by discussing the ways in which ecocomposition is applied in the first-year college composition classroom by a number of compositionists and writing teachers such as Derek Owens and others. In discussing those ways of applying ecocomposition into the EFL writing classroom, EFL writing teachers will have examples that would help them design ecocomposition courses that would help raising place and environment awareness. arabic 8 English 64

Introducing Slang to English Language Learners

Real life conversations do not include formal spoken interactions all the time; learning to use slang will help convergence, divergence, and maintenance, which constitute speech accommodation theory. Convergence is “accommodation towards the speech of one’s interlocutors” (Meyerhoff, 2006, p. 307). In other words, how individuals are familiarized to each other’s linguistic features during speech. In the case of ELLs, they needed to gain social approval in their new community, which makes convergence occur. They use slang to maintain their social approval and construct their identity. Their convergence is downward convergence since they use slang to belong to their school community arabic 5 English 41

Detection of the splicing defects(c.1845+11c>g), and common polymorphism (1773C>T) in exon 12 of LDL-R gene on chromosome 19 among some Heterozygous FH patients in Tripoli

Study discusses the genetic basis for familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) in some Libyan patients at Tripoli city, examining the distribution of variants that associated with mutations in exon 12 of low density lipoprotein receptor (LDL-R) gene on chromosome 19. Genetic analysis were done using polymerases chain reaction-single strand conformation polymorphism (PCR-SSCP) based on DNA technique, to detect splicing defects of the LDL-R gene in exon 12 on chromosome 19, among some Libyans patients probably have heterozygous familial hypercholesterol-emia (HeFH). The patient’svolunteer’s participants in this study were from Tajjora National Cardiac Center, Endocrine and Diabetic Hospital in Tripoli. The study showed the presence of the splicing defects (1845 +11 C>G)in the exon 12 of the LDL-R gene on chromosome 19 in patients with hyperchol-esterolemia and ischemic heart disease, as they have family history in hypercholesterolemia and other secondary causes to heart disease such as diabetic, hypertension, chest pain, and obesity. Frequency of HeFH Libyan patients was (0.86%), and the significant of statistical analysis were{p-value>0.05}, which considered high according to clinical diagnostic criteria for HeFH. As well as detection the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) (1773C>T) that alter the exon splicing efficiency, because it is associated with an emerging of the functional genetic variants for mutations in exon-12, where results of molecular diagnosis confirmed that occurrence the mutation of (LDL-R gene) relates to premature coronary artery diseases(P-CAD). arabic 35 English 137
