A Correlational Study on the Learning Styles of Tripoli University Nursing Students and Instructors: Basis for Academic Enhancement

The aim of the study is to determine the relationship between learning style of the nursing students’ with that of the instructors’ for continuous academic enhancement based on the identified learning styles with the aid of Kolb’s Learning style inventory as the survey questionnaire and utilizing secondary data which is the midterm grades of the students to determine the academic performance. The collected data were then analyzed to determine the relationship of the two variables utilizing the product momentum correlation. The findings that the researcher was able to extract from the study were: 1) that among the different learning styles, accommodator type of learning style among the students got the highest frequency of ten (10) or 45.45%. 2) that among the different learning styles, the converger type of learning style among the instructors got the highest frequency of four (4) or 50.00%. 3) Predominantly, the sixteen (16) or 69.57% nursing students scored 5.00 or failed in the academic performance as shown in the midterm grades. 4) the two (2) variables, students’ learning styles and instructors’ learning styles perfectly correlate as shown in the midterm grades of the students. Based on these findings, the researcher was able to conclude that first, the learning styles of the instructors are diverse though most fall under the category of converger; Second, that the students’ learning styles are also diverse and most of them fall under the category of accommodator; Third, Ratings showed that most of the students needs further academic enhancement; and Lastly, the learning styles of the instructors perfectly correlates with that of the students and therefore, plays a vital role in academic enhancement.

The Use of Multi-Coloured Scrub Suits Attire In Providing Quality Care Among The Paediatric Patients of Tripoli Medical Centre: A Quasi-experimental Study

The study aimed to determine the effect of multi coloured scrub suits on the provision of quality care to paediatric patients. Specifically, this study answered the following questions: 1) What is the paediatric patients’ perception of nurses wearing traditional white uniform? 2) What are the parents of paediatric patients’ perception of nurses wearing traditional white uniform, in terms of: Role Performance, Ability to be reassuring, Ability not to frighten the children, Ability to be fun, Ability to communicate well with children? 3) What is the paediatric patients’ perception of nurses wearing multi coloured scrub suits? 4) What are the parents of paediatric patients’ perception of nurses wearing multi coloured scrub suits, in terms of: Role Performance, Ability to be reassuring, Ability not to frighten the children, Ability to be fun, Ability to communicate well with children? 5) Based on the results of the study, what measures could be formulated for continuous enhancement of providing quality patient care? The findings that the researcher was able to extract from the study were: 1) eighty percent (80%) of the paediatric patient’s have positive perception on nurses wearing traditional uniform while twenty percent (20%) have negative perception. 2) Most of the parents of Paediatric Patients Perception of Nurses Wearing Traditional White Uniform are good, however, the indicator of role performance and ability to be reassuring to patients have a verbal interpretation of fair. 3) All or 100% of the paediatric patients have a positive perception on nurses wearing the multi coloured scrub suits 4) the Parents of Paediatric Patients have a very good perception of Nurses Wearing Multi Coloured Scrub suits and the indicator of role performance and ability to be reassuring to patients have a verbal interpretation of fair. Based on these findings, the researcher was able to conclude that the kind of dress/clothing that the nurse wears during duty formed part of the environment and therefore has a great impact in provision of quality of care. This could be depicted from the results of the study where the perception of paediatric patient’s rose from 2.55 or fair to 3.07 or good after wearing the multi coloured scrub suits.

A Correlational Study on the Effect of National Crisis on the Mental Health of Students at the Faculty of Nursing, Tripoli Libya and their Academic Performance

The study aimed to determine the relationship of the effects of the national crisis on the mental of the students and their academic performance. Specifically, this study aimed to answer the following questions: 1.)What are the effects of the National crisis on the Mental Health of the students per semester level? 2.)What are the academic performance of the students per semester level? 3.)Is there a significant relationship between the effect of the national crisis on the mental health status of the students at the Faculty of Nursing and their academic performance? The findings that the researcher was able to extract from the study were: 1) The effects of the National crisis on the mental health of the students disclosed the same verbal interpretation of “A good bit of the time” for all semester levels. It is surprising to note that the summary from all semester levels is the same. Indeed it can be said that the mental health of the students although not greatly affected, there’s still some effects that could be seen and that it doesn’t matter which semesters they are currently in. 2) The academic performance of the students disclosed that semester 8 have a verbal interpretation of “Very Good”, semesters 3, 5, 6 and 7 as “Good” and semesters 1, 2 and 4 as “Fair”. The academic performance of the students are not the same for semester 1-8. It is more difficult for the lower years like semester 1, 2 and 4 to adapt as they revealed an overall interpretation of “Fair”. And only students at the last semester was able to get the verbal interpretation of “Very Good”. It is worthwhile to note that as the student progresses, the more likely for them to cope with their academic performance. 3) Statistical evidence shows that an r= 0.26 shows a positive weak relationship among variables. Though it’s not that high, indeed, the mental health of the students can be a predictor to their academic performance.

Title : Perception of University of Tripoli, Faculty of Nursing Students on the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Curriculum

The study aimed to determine the perception of University of Tripoli, Faculty of Nursing Students on the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) curriculum. Specifically, this study answered the following questions: 1) What are the Students’ perception on the Basis of Curriculum Construction? 2) What are the Students’ perception on the Basis of Curriculum Content? 3) What are the Students’ perception on the Basis of Strategies? The findings that the researcher was able to extract from the study were: 1) the frequency and percentage of the student’s demographic profile in terms of Gender, shows that female are mostly dominant which is 53 or 66.25% while the male is 27 or 33.75%. In terms of Age, where mostly belongs to the category of 21- 23 years of age with 38 respondents or 47.5%, 18-20 years of age, 37 or 46.25% and 24-26 which is 5 or 6.25%.2) the results of the frequency and percentage of the Student’s level of awareness on the Facts and Myths of COVID-19 reveals that mostly 81.40% are aware of the facts on COVID-19, 16.71% are unaware and 1.87% are undecided. Predominantly, 50.20% of students answered “YES” on Myths on COVID-19 making them unaware of the Myths, 46.04% are aware and 3.75% are undecided 3) The measures that could be formulated to increase the level of awareness of the students are to conduct information dissemination campaign through symposiums, research forums and the use of IEC materials. Design Rationale Model for Green Human Computer Interaction Design

Curbing the global environmental threats become a worldwide issue. Over the years, significant scientific evidences emerged that highlighted the relationship between massive industrialization and global environmental threats. For this reason, all types of industrialization are undergoing radical re-engineering; the aim is to manufacture goods and services that are efficient, safer and environmental-friendly. In terms of software industry, sustainable software engineering has become a hot research topic; it spans sustainability issues in all stages of software life cycle. This paper proposes a design rationale model for human-computer interaction design. The proposed model is an adaptation of the QOC deliberation model, where green computing guidelines are used as criteria for the evaluation of interface design decisions. As part of the collaborative decision making process pertaining interactions design decisions, we believe that there is a need to provide designers with contextual guidance that help to construct a shared mental model about the design problem, and how it is influenced by the recommendations of the Green IT campaign. For this reason, we incorporated the Green computing guidelines within the elements of the proposed design rationale model. The paper is also presenting a prototypical implementation of the proposed model.
