Design Rationale Model for Green Human Computer Interaction Design

Curbing the global environmental threats become a worldwide issue. Over the years, significant scientific evidences emerged that highlighted the relationship between massive industrialization and global environmental threats. For this reason, all types of industrialization are undergoing radical re-engineering; the aim is to manufacture goods and services that are efficient, safer and environmental-friendly. In terms of software industry, sustainable software engineering has become a hot research topic; it spans sustainability issues in all stages of software life cycle. This paper proposes a design rationale model for human-computer interaction design. The proposed model is an adaptation of the QOC deliberation model, where green computing guidelines are used as criteria for the evaluation of interface design decisions. As part of the collaborative decision making process pertaining interactions design decisions, we believe that there is a need to provide designers with contextual guidance that help to construct a shared mental model about the design problem, and how it is influenced by the recommendations of the Green IT campaign. For this reason, we incorporated the Green computing guidelines within the elements of the proposed design rationale model. The paper is also presenting a prototypical implementation of the proposed model.

A study on the level of awareness of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students at the University of Tripoli on the myths and facts on Corona Virus (COVID – 19

The study aimed to determine the level of awareness of Bachelor of Science in Nursing Students at the University of Tripoli on the myths & facts on coronavirus (COVID – 19). Specifically, this study answered the following questions: 1)What are the Students’ Demographic profile in terms of Gender and Age? 2) What are the Students’ level of awareness of the myths & facts on coronavirus (COVID-19)? 3) Based on the results of the study, what measures can be formulated to increase the level of awareness of the students on coronavirus (COVID-19). The findings that the researcher was able to extract from the study were: 1) the frequency and percentage of the student’s demographic profile in terms of Gender, shows that female are mostly dominant which is 53 or 66.25% while the male is 27 or 33.75%. In terms of Age, where mostly belongs to the category of 21- 23 years of age with 38 respondents or 47.5%, 18-20 years of age, 37 or 46.25% and 24-26 which is 5 or 6.25%.2) the results of the frequency and percentage of the Student’s level of awareness on the Facts and Myths of COVID-19 reveals that mostly 81.40% are aware of the facts on COVID-19, 16.71% are unaware and 1.87% are undecided. Predominantly, 50.20% of students answered “YES” on Myths on COVID-19 making them unaware of the Myths, 46.04% are aware and 3.75% are undecided 3) The measures that could be formulated to increase the level of awareness of the students are to conduct information dissemination campaign through symposiums, research forums and the use of IEC materials. Based on these findings, the researcher was able to conclude that the University of Tripoli - Faculty of Nursing are aware of the FACTS on COVID-19, however, it is worthwhile to note that misconceptions are high on the MYTHS aspect thus there is really an urgent need to correct these misconceptions so as to contribute on measures to end this pandemic.

“STUDENTS’ FEEDBACK AND ADMINISTRATORS’ CLASS OBSERVATION AS DETERMINANTS OF FACULTY MEMBERS TEACHING EFFECTIVENESS AT UNIVERSITY OF TRIPOLI, FACULTY OF NURSING: A CORRELATIONAL STUDY.”

The study aimed to determine the teaching effectiveness of Faculty members at University of Tripoli, Faculty of Nursing based on Students’ Feedback and Administrators’ Class observation visits. Specifically, this study answered the following questions: 1) What are the Faculty members performance evaluation based on students’ feedback? 2) What are the Faculty members performance evaluation based on Administrators’ class observation visits? 3) Is there any significant relationship on the Faculty member performance evaluation based on students’ feedback and Administrators’ class observation visits? The findings that the researcher was able to extract from the study were: 1) that based on students’ feedback, 93.3% got the rating of “Good”, 6.6% “Fair”. It is worthwhile to note that there was no Faculty member who were able to get a rating of Poor. 2) that based on Administrators’ evaluation, 20% got the rating of “Excellent”, 33.3% “Very Good”, 33.3% “Good” and 13.3% “Fair”. It is worthwhile to note that there was no Faculty member who were able to get a rating of Poor. 3) there is a weak positive correlation between the students’ feedback and administrators’ evaluation as statistically analysed utilizing pearson momentum correlation which yielded a result of r=.35. Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions were drawn: It can be said that the Faculty Evaluation at University of Tripoli, Faculty of Nursing, based on Students’ Feedback and Administrators’ Evaluation showed effectiveness on the Faculty member provision of quality education to students. However, it proves that there is weak positive relationship among variables and that students’ feedback should be treated as different entity as that of Administrators’ evaluation.
